Sportsbook bettors notice two more golf events for Tiger Woods
Golf bettors have taken notice at the sportsbook of two more events that Tiger Woods has committed to. Woods announced earlier that he would be playing in the Quail Hollow Championship and the U.S. Open and he has added The Players Championship and the AT&T National to his schedule. Tiger is extremely popular with fans and with bettors at the sportsbook. Sportsbook odds almost always favor Tiger whenever he is entered in a golf tournament.
He is favored in the Quail Hollow Championship which begins on April 29th and he is favored for The Players Championship, which starts the following week. "We are thrilled to add Tiger Woods to the Players Championship and really appreciate the fact that he gave us advance notice so we can generate additional excitement here in the community," said the tournament’s executive director Jay Monahan. Woods won The Players Championship in 2001. He was eighth in the tournament last year. “This is our event and it always attracts one of the best fields of the year,” said Woods. “It’s a tournament everybody wants to win.”
The AT&T National is held on Fourth of July weekend just outside of Philadelphia. In previous years it had been played at Congressional just outside of Washington, D.C. Tiger won the tournament last year when it was played at Congressional. "I'm really looking forward to defending my title at the AT&T National," Woods said. "Philly is a great sports town, and I'm excited to play at Aronimink Golf Club."
Tiger returned to golf at The Masters and was the favorite at the sportsbook. Despite not playing that well, Tiger still finished fourth in the Masters. Many are looking for his performance to improve in the upcoming tournaments beginning with the Quail Hollow Championship. Everything for Tiger though revolves around the majors as he is preparing for the next one, the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach in June.
While the hoopla surrounding Tiger’s return at the Masters is over, there is no question that golf events with Tiger in them get a lot more attention from average golf fans and from those that bet golf odds at the sportsbook. A golf tournament that Tiger is in simply gets a lot more attention than those in which he is not entered. That should mean that the Quail Hollow Championship. The Players Championship, the AT&T National and the U.S. Open will be very popular.
