Belmont Stakes Betting Fiel Still Up in The Air
As the 2010 Belmont Stakes betting action fast approaches the field of entrants in the last of the Triple Crown betting event is still up in the air. Obviously the field will be set in the next few days and the horseracing odds will be set but until that time comes the Belmont odds will be a matter of great conjecture.
There are a handful of horses that are sure things as entrants in the 2010 Belmont Stakes betting action and there should be little doubt that horses like First Dude, Fly Down, Ice Box Stately Victor and Drosselmeyer will all be in the starting gate when the Belmont odds competition begins on Saturday.
But the hard part for horse racing odds handicappers right now is not picking a winner but simply picking the horses that will round out the field in the Belmont Stakes betting action. Right now it’s not even known how many horses will be running in this year’s Belmont odds competition. After weeks of experts proclaiming that a field of 12 was the likely number of entrants it now seems as the field might more likely consist of just 11 horses as last minute withdraws by leading candidates has left the sports betting experts scrambling to handicap the field.
The biggest news regarding the Belmont betting action over the weekend was that Bank of Eight’s owners had withdrawn the horse from Belmont odds consideration. Not that Bank of Eight was expected to win the crown jewel of the Triple Crown but he was among the best horses in the field and the field seems likely to be reduced by one as a result.
One of the replacement horses that many sports betting experts have been discussing is Dave in Dixie. Dave in Dixie is one of the least qualified possible entrants in the Belmont Stakes betting and if he is included in the final field he will have some very long odds in the horseracing betting. He’s a horse accustomed to synthetic tracks in California and has run only twice on dirt. Nor has he had any top finishes in any race of consequence.
Bank of Eight’s withdrawal from contention won’t likely have any impact on the overall Belmont Stakes betting winner, but his absence does water the field down a bit more.
