Houston Astros looking to rebound from a bad record
The 2009 baseball betting season did not go as planned for the Houston Astros. Generally a contender in the stacked NL Central division the team ended the season with a record of 74-88, far below what most MLB baseball odds makers expected. But the beautiful thing about sports betting is that there is always next season, and for the Astros, that baseball wagering second chance is just about here. With Opening Day less than a week away Houston is hoping to bounce back from the poor baseball betting results of last season and once again challenge for the NL Central MLB betting title.
The team has the baseball betting talent on the mound and at the plate to make the MLB baseball betting playoffs but it’s got to get top performances out of all its players. It’s unlikely that this team will be able to unseat the mighty St Louis Cardinals and win the NL Central baseball betting competition, but it could be a top contender for the NL Wildcard.
The team’s starting rotation has a chance to be one of the better groups in the NL betting. With Wandy Rodriguez (14-12, 3.02 ERA) and former all star Roy Oswalt (8-6, 4.12 ERA) at the top of the rotation this team has good chance to make the MLB playoff action.
At the plate Astros mainstay Lance Berkman seems to keep putting up big numbers every year. Last year he hit .274, with 26 HRs and drove in 80 RBIs –decent numbers for any MLB betting player, but a bit off his peak years. He’ll need plenty of help carrying the offensive load and Carlos Lee (.300 BA, 26 HRs and 102 RBIs) and Hunter Pence (./282 BA, 25 HRs and 72 RBIs) should be there to do most of the heavy lifting.
The meat of the Astros batting order should be one of the better groups in the MLB odds and will key to any success this team has in the baseball gambling odds action.
