Why The Celtics Will Win Game 1 of The NBA Betting Odds Finals

No one expects the Boston Celtics to win Game 1 of the upcoming NBA betting odds Finals.  And that might be just the reason why this team steals the first game of the NBA Finals betting action on the road and upsets the apple cart in what is supposed to be a basketball betting series dominated by the LA Lakers.

The Lakers are a fantastic team –the best in the NBA odds action, really.  But that doesn’t mean that they can’t lose this NBA Finals betting series.  On paper the Lakers are better.  According to the NBA odds makers the Lakers are better.  And they’re favored by 5-6 points to win Game 1 on almost every online betting site.

So do the Celtics even have a chance to take Game 1?

Of course they do.  Basketball betting fans have seen it time and time again; the heavily favored team showing up for the NBA Finals betting series and being beaten by a less talented but more cohesive underdog.

That underdog billing fits the Boston Celtics to a ‘T’.  This a group of experienced veterans that may not beat you in the razzle-dazzle department but that gets 110% out of its game and plays together as team better than any other franchise in the 2010 NBA playoff betting action.

The Celtics had no business beating the best team in the NBA betting action (Cleveland Cavs 60-22) yet they handed the regular season champs their hats in 6 games.  Nor were they a better team than the Orlando Magic (59-23) yet they also sent the second best team in the NBA odds packing after six games.

The Celtics have already beaten arguably the two best teams in the NBA betting action and will not be intimidated by the Lakers (57-25).

Boston will have zero pressure heading into the Game 1 of the NBA Finals betting action.  Everyone in sports betting expects this team to lose and everyone expects the Lakers to win.  Thus, the Lakers have all the pressure in Game 1 of the NBA Finals betting action, not Boston.

Boston is a better team defensively than LA and that should play huge dividends.  The Celtics also have the advantage at the PG position and Rajon Rondo should be able to exploit his below average counterparts on the Lakers squad.

And if Rondo has a big game Boston will win Game 1.
