It’s no surprise seeing the Falcons competing in a Wild Card matchup. After all, the Falcons represented the NFC in the Super Bowl last season. However, the opposite is true about the Los Angeles Rams, who finished last year’s season with a 4-12 record. So it goes without saying that seeing the Rams in this year’s postseason is an unprecedented event.

Nevertheless, the Rams performed better than Atlanta and will get the home field advantage this weekend. Not only that, NFL betting sites are pegging Los Angeles as the favorite over Matt Ryan & Co. At face value that may seem like a bit of a bombshell, but upon closer inspection it’s clear that Los Angeles has a sizable advantage over their Wild Card opponent.

A Look at the Sportsbook Numbers

Surprisingly, the Rams managed to put together one of the best offenses of the 2017 regular season. Behind the youngest coach in the NFL, Sean McVay, and behind second-year player Jared Goff, Los Angeles delivered the NFL’s No. 1 scoring offense. Integral to that unit was Todd Gurley, who some felt put himself in the MVP discussion. With Gurley in the backfield, and Goff under center, Los Angeles put together the NFL’s 10th best passing attack and 8th best running game. Needless to say, the Falcons will have their hands full this weekend.

As far as offense goes, the Falcons put together another respectable year. In short, the Falcons finished 15th in the NFL in scoring, 8th in passing, 13th in rushing and 8th in total offense. With those kind of numbers, Atlanta should be able to keep up with the numbers Los Angeles puts up this Saturday. First and foremost, the Falcons will have to find a way to stop the Rams this online NFL betting weekend.

Luckily for Atlanta, they just happened to have a very good defensive year. Specifically, the Falcons finished 8th in the NFL in scoring, 9th in total offense, 12th in passing and 9th on the ground. With that in mind, the Falcons should be able to get the Rams’ offense off the field at least a couple of times this Sunday. Whether or not Atlanta’s offense is able to capitalize on the opportunity is another thing entirely.
