Preview NFL Preseason Week 3 Falcons vs. Dolphins Odds

On Friday August 2th the Atlanta Falcons will travel to steamy Miami, FL to play their third NFL betting lines preseason game against the Dolphins.  Both of these teams have plenty of potential and could be playoff contenders but many questions surround both clubs as they finished out of the playoffs last season and failed to live up to expectations.

The Dolphins play in the ultra competitive AFC East with both the New York Jets and New England Patriots expected to finish higher in the division than the Fins.  But the Dolphins have improved perhaps more than any other team in the NFL during the offseason and have done a good job keeping up with the Joneses, so to speak, in the NFC East.  Miami traded for WR superstar Brandon Marshall and signed pro bowl MLB Karlos Dansby to one of the richest deals in NFL history.

The team also seems to have drafted well with two rookies expected in the opening day starting lineup (DE Jared Odrick and OLB Koa Misi).  This team also has a pair of young and talented corners and the defensive unit as a whole should be much improved.  The biggest question for this team however in the eyes of most sports betting fans is the play of QB Chad Henne, who will start a season opener for the first time in his career this year.

The Falcons have a young QB as well in Matt Ryan, but Ryan, the starter since day one of his two year career has proven he has what it takes to lead a team. The offense is also loaded with weapons in Roddy White, Tony Gonzalez and Michael Turner.  Last year this team struggled to find its rhythm but there are big expectations for this team this year.

The defensive unit is has some issues and after giving up 348.8 yards a game last season it’s got to find a way to tighten up. Sports betting fans will likely see the defensive starters play an extended series as they try and get everything just right before the regular season.

In a head to head matchup you have to like the Dolphins chances as the offense looked sharp in its last game against Jacksonville on the road and the team’s defense should be much improved over last year’s awful performance.
Kickoff for this Friday matchup from Miami is set for 7:05 Eastern D. Time
