Steelers plug major NFL Betting hole with signing of Pro Bowler Adams

It’s been years since the Steelers had a Pro Bowl offensive lineman after producing so many hall of famers from the O-line but the drought is over after the team’s recent signing of Flozell Adams for the upcoming NFL Football betting season.

So, perhaps Adams is a far cry from his 5-time Pro Bowl heyday as a player and perhaps the Steelers O-lineman have never been its strong point (aside from its hall of fame centers) but the signing of Adams, if he’s even able to perform at a slightly above average level is a huge addition for the Steelers. Pittsburgh has had a terrific team over the past few years as evidenced by its two Super Bowl wins over the past four years.  But last season injuries and poor play did this team in and the team’s running game has collapsed been an oft-injured O-line that just isn’t very talented.

That group got even worse in the offseason when right tackle Willie Colon was lost for the upcoming football odds action with torn Achilles’ tendon.

The 35-year-old Adams will likely fill in for Colon on the right side or switch sides with left tackle Max Starks.  He’s no longer in Pro Bowl, obviously, or the Cowboys wouldn’t have released him.  But he should still be an above average player and the split with the cowboys had more to do with money than performance.

With Big Ben suspended for the first four games of the upcoming 2010-11 NFL Football betting season and the loss of top WR Santonio Holmes the Steelers have plenty of football betting challenges ahead of them.

However, the signing of Adams at least gives head coach Mike Tomlin one less thing to worry about.  Adams is likely even an upgrade for the line as Colon was an anchor of the blocking unit but hardly a star.  It make take some time for Adams to learn to play with the ever improvising Roethlisberger, which requires holding pass blocks for as long as possible, but he should immediately help in the running game blowing open holes for promising young back Rashard Mendenhall.

Anyway you look at this it is a good signing by the Steelers and makes one less worry for Head Coach Mike Tomlin.
