Philadelphia Flyers take 2-0 lead Stanley Cup

The Philadelphia Flyers really the miracle team of this year’s Stanley Cup betting.  In the battle of the hockey betting Cinderellas, the #7 seed Flyers have taking a commanding lead over the #8 seed Montreal Canadiens in the most improbable –and compelling- Eastern Conference Finals betting action you’ll ever see.

Just to set the table -in case you missed the early round of the NHL Hockey postseason action- these two teams barely qualified for the NHL playoff betting and were the last two teams in the East to get in.  The Flyers than went on to knock off the much favored New Jersey Devils in round one of the Stanley Cup betting action before going on to knock off the Boston Bruins in seven games (after falling behind 3-0 in the NHL betting series) in one of the most exciting NHL playoff series in hockey betting history.

The Habs also produced some NHL betting excitement of their own as they became the first #8 seed in Stanley Cup betting history to reach the Eastern Conference Finals.  Montreal is also the first team to beat a #1 seed (Washington Capitals) and defending Stanley Cup betting champ (Pittsburgh Penguins) in the same NHL playoff betting season.

But it looks like the Habs’ luck might be coming to an end as the Flyers have not only beaten  them two straight games, but embarrassed them with emphatic victories.

The bread and butter of Montreal’s success in the NHL Hockeybetting so far has been the mind-blowing play of goal keeper Jaroslav Halak but the Flyers have been his Kryptonite.  In two NHL playoff betting games the Flyers haven’t just beaten Halak, they’ve humiliated him netting nine goals in about 90 minutes.  That’s a goal every ten minutes against a man that made Alex Ovechkin and Sid the Kid look like junior players in the previous hockey betting series.

In Game two the Habs defense tightened up after a 6-0 blow in the first game, allowing just 23 shots, but three of those made it into the net in this 3-0 Philly win.  Meanwhile this counterpart, Flyers backup goalie Michael Leighton, continued his dominance becoming the first Flyers goalie to pitch back to back shut outs in the Eastern Conference Finals, saving 30 of 30 shots on goal.

If Halak doesn’t regain his form soon, this will be a four game NHL betting sweep for the Flyers.
